a bit of background 


The San Francisco-based Armstrong by Daher initiative is working on integrating the most innovative ideas to further enhance Daher’s TBM very fast turboprop aircraft and build together the Future of Aviation. With its General Aviathon challenge, students, pilots, engineers and early stage start-ups (or anyone!) will propose new concepts to make the TBM even more intelligent, connected, accessible and pleasant.

  

Daher has a proud heritage, tracing its aviation roots to 1911 – making it one of aviation industry’s longest continuous airplane producers. Throughout the TBM program, Daher has applied its expertise to introduce innovation in the aircraft and its systems – including increased automation, the use of advanced avionics to enhance flight safety and operability, along with a cloud-based application for the tracking/reporting of aircraft data.

►GENERAL STRUCTURE

Dates 

Phase I: See this as an ideathon phase. Build your team, complete the registration form, develop your concepts and explain it clearly!

Phase II: Following an assessment by the Armstrong Innovation Team, the top 30-50 teams will go through to Phase II to work on their ideas, with access to a various pool of Experts and valuable material resources. This round will be split between a midterm and final report, in order to give you intermediary feedback to improve your chances to make it to the Final! 

Phase III: Up to 10 teams will enter that almost-final phase. This is where you get to work more closely with the mentors, refine your project, even prototype it if needed! 

Phase IV: The final 10 teams will enter the final physical event. After a workshop to finalize the last details of your solution with mentors, you will work on your pitch alongside world-class mentors. Your idea will be showcased in front of our jury and attendees from the Bay Area ecosystem. 

Once the winners are announced and the networking cocktail is wrapped up, the final journey truly starts! Be prepared to fly to NBAA BACE in Las Vegas to attend the Daher press conference and spend some time on the Daher booth to present your idea in one of the most important airshows in the U.S. !

PHASE III:

FINAL EVENT: 

During this final physical event happening in the Bay Area, you will have access to mentors to refine the last details of your proposition, and then work on your pitch to convince the Jury YOU can make a difference for the Future of General Aviation. No panic, experts will be there to guide you on various topics!

The lucky ones will get the amazing opportunity to pitch their idea at 2019 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas! We will support you along the way, so that you get the most out this unique experience!

To allow anyone to participate, the majority of the competition will be held online, thanks to webinar solutions, chatting and video calls. 

BUT, the final event will take place near an airport in the Bay Area on October 20th (secret venue, will be disclosed later). So make sure you save the date!
